Warner Bros. will disrupt again by amping up its original film output for HBO Max in 2022.
During a second-quarter earnings call for AT&T, WarnerMedia Chief Executive Officer Jason Kilar announced Warner Bros. would provide 10 or more movies exclusively for HBO Max in 2022. In the same year, theatrical features from the studio will begin playing exclusively in theaters for 45 days before dropping on HBO Max.

“Clearly motion pictures matter and will continue to matter,” Kilar said. “They also matter at home in terms of the response we’ve gotten” from HBO Max users. In regards to the film industry as a whole, Kilar predicted it will, “continue to evolve and innovate in ways that work for not only for consumers and fans but also for our business partners.”
